Marios Demetriades - Former Minister of Transport, Communications and Works

On the 30th of August, the Attorney General’s Office—under Mr George Savvides and Mr Savvas Aggelides—filed a series of completely unfounded accusations against me. I created this website to offer anyone interested—in particular those following this case and broader issues of justice in Cyprus, an EU Member State—clear, factual information about the trial’s progress and the surrounding circumstances. Because the trial is still ongoing, all content here will focus strictly on verifiable facts.
Announcement from Marios Demetriades on the 4th of September 2024
During the four years that I served in the public office of Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, I worked with responsibility, conscientiousness, and integrity, fully committed to the duties of my mission, always guided by the protection of the public interest.
For three whole years, my personal, family, and professional life—as well as all my political decisions—have been scrutinized exhaustively. Not a single reproachable finding has emerged.
Nevertheless, the targeting of me was premeditated, in order to divert attention away from those who bear the real responsibility for the Cyprus Investment Programme. False claims and malicious accusations were deployed to distort reality and bring me into court. Some believed I would become the victim of their own responsibilities, mistakes, and omissions. But it will be proven that this is not the case.
I have absolute confidence in the Justice system, knowing that in the end truth and justice always prevail.
